Privacy Policy

The short version: Maply has no ads, no tracking, and no third-party analytics. Your map lives on your device and syncs privately over your own iCloud. The only data that reaches our servers is content you deliberately share or publish, and — if you become a creator — the minimum needed to run your public profile. We never sell your data.
Using Maply privately
Saving places, organising lists, and browsing your map happen entirely on your device. This data syncs across your devices through your personal iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit) — we can't see it. Location is used on-device to centre the map and find nearby places; it is never sent to us. There is no account required for personal use, and we collect no usage analytics.
When you share a list
Tapping Share uploads a snapshot of that list — place names, notes, and coordinates — to create a public link. The snapshot is anonymous: it isn't tied to your identity, and it carries nothing about you personally. Anyone with the link can view it.
Creator accounts (optional)
If you become a creator, you sign in with Apple. We receive and store a stable, anonymous Apple identifier for your account — not your name or email. We also store the public profile you create (handle, display name, bio, avatar image, and social links) and the lists you publish. All of this is public by design and linked to your @handle. You can edit your profile, unpublish lists, or ask us to delete your account and its content at any time.
Subscriptions
Maply Creator subscriptions are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details. To confirm your subscription is active, the app sends us Apple's cryptographically signed transaction, which we verify — we use it only to unlock premium features, and store just whether your subscription is active and when it renews.
View counts
Published pages report a page view to us so creators can see how many times a list was opened. We store a count only — no IP address, no device or browser information, no referrer. It cannot be tied to an individual visitor.
Creator engagement counts
If you follow a creator in the app, their follower count goes up by one — anonymously. If you mark a place that came from a creator's list as visited, that creator sees an anonymous +1 so they know their recommendations work. In both cases we store a count only: no identity, no location, nothing about you. Your own places — anything you added yourself — are never measured at all. You can turn visit counts off in the app's profile screen, and nothing is sent.
What we never do
- No advertising and no ad identifiers.
- No cross-app or cross-site tracking.
- No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
- No selling or renting of your data.
Public & permanent content
Shared and published links are meant to keep working, so we don't quietly expire them. Content is removed when you unpublish it, when you delete your account, or through a takedown for a policy violation.
Children
Maply isn't directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we don't knowingly collect their data.
